Modernised Gdanska Glowa sluice /May 2012/

Date added: 2014-04-28, Time11:48:50

Gdanska Glowa sluice, separating the Vistula River from the Szkarpawa River, has been provided with electricity. It is a very important facilitation for sailors on the waterway from Gdansk to the Vistula Lagoon. So far, the facility has been operated with a manual drive mechanism. As part of the investment project the following was executed: a electrical control system for sluice drive devices, modernisation of the drive system for the sluice chamber gates and butterflies valves, a video monitoring system allowing for the observation of the top and bottom of the outer marina and sluice chamber using 3 cameras (for this purpose both a monitor and video recorder were installed in the sluice service office) and a automatic control system. Interestingly this system allows controlling the sluice in two ways, i.e.: remote control or from the control room. Remote control is carried out with a remote control device - a radio control module, while a control panel was placed in the control room, and is equipped with buttons to control individual sluice devices. Additionally, full information about the status of the operation of individual components is displayed on the control panel. The task was completed by the Regional Water Management Board in Gdansk.
